MILDRED LONG Tupelo - Mildred Lovorn Long, 86, died Thursday, August 23, 2012, at her home in Tupelo. She was born June 17, 1926 to Henry Tom and Abby Fulcher Lovorn. She attended Mississippi State University where she became a teacher and taught for thirty-three years in public schools. She loved to read, sew, work in her garden, and take care of her grandchildren. She delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at the Clothes Closet for the church. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tupelo where she was also a member of the Mary Richie Circle and Belle Bennet Sunday school class. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 after visitation at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Jim Curtis and Rev. Lynn Mote officiating. Burial will be at Middleton United Methodist Church. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne Long Trott (O'Neal) of Gautier; two sisters Mary Ruth Moody of Philidelphia, Kathy Humphries of Louisville; one son, Stan L. Long of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Jana Hoobler (Ben) of Gautier, Justin Trott (Tracey) of Ocean Springs, Elise McMasters (Trey) of Shannon, and Elizabeth Vaughan (John) of Shannon; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Pallbearers will be David Moody, John Vaughan, Trey McMasters, Justin Trott, Ben Hoobler, and Mark Moody. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Belle Bennet Sunday school class and the Mary Richie UMW. Visitation will be 9 - 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Green Valley Boys Ranch, 780 Old Mill Pond Road, Louisville, MS, 39339. Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com
