Tupelo - Mildred Elizabeth Forsythe Barrett, 89, died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born April 24, 1920 in Corinth to Robert Lee and Ella Maude McCool Forsythe. She worked as an administrative assistant for Kellum's Clinic for several years and later worked as administrative assistant for One DeVille Apartment Complex, from which she retired. An avid reader, she also enjoyed gospel music and spending time with her family. She was a member of Gloster Street Church of Christ and the widow of Milton Barrett
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Joe Connell officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Presley of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Angela Park Mask, Caryn Presley Hood, Marcus Presley (Amy), Elizabeth Presley, and John Forsythe, all of Tupelo; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Jimmy and Jan Forsythe; two sisters, Katherine Forsythe and Marguerite Owens; and three brothers, James, Bill, and Sam Forsythe.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
