MIKE KIRBY Tupelo - Michael Charles Kirby, 66, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Newton on September 7, 1948 to Kermit and Odessa Kirby. In 1967, Mike graduated Bibb County High School. He was a well trained sewing machine mechanic and troubleshooter. Mike was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, he especially enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of Big Oaks Golf Club. He attended First Baptist Church. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Ricky Young officiating and special music by Rev. Randy Wood and Atonya Smith. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of seventeen years, Linda Kirby of Tupelo; two sons, Charles "Chaz" Kirby (Amy) of Tupelo and Ray Kirby (Tracy) of Hubert, NC; two daughters, Tammy Strickland of Alabaster, AL and Tracy Nash of Birmingham, AL; one brother, Steve Kirby (Sonya) of Bibb County, AL and four grandchildren, Kyle Stickland, Haylee Stickland, Dillon Payne and Malorie Payne. Pallbearers will be Phillip Poe, Mike Smith, Mike Flowers, Curt Luke, Jay Scruggs, Jamie Ewing and Steve Bates. Honorary pallbearers will be David Davis, Danny Broadhead and Bobby Hall. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
