Mickey Elliott
Tupelo- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mickey Dwayne Elliott on April 1, 2023, at the age of 74.
Mickey was born on October 22, 1948, to Charles Bentley and Stella Goff Elliott in Scottsboro, Alabama. He was the youngest of six siblings, with four older sisters and one older brother. After graduating from Jacksonville State University with a business degree, Mickey joined the National Guard where he served for 8 years.
After leaving the National Guard, Mickey had a successful 30-year career in commercial real estate managing skyscrapers and large office complexes across the country in Tampa, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and Los Angeles. Mickey retired in 2010 as Vice President of a prominent national real estate company. Mickey and his wife Sally moved to Tupelo, Mississippi where they enjoyed dinner parties with friends and family and traveling to Gulf Shores where they never missed an occasion to have dinner at Bahama Bobs.
Mickey loved watching Westerns, working with his hands, and being outdoors. When he wasn’t busy with woodworking and home improvement projects, he enjoyed playing golf, pheasant hunting in South Dakota, and deep-sea fishing. Upon retiring to Tupelo, he was able to spend more time playing golf with the Dandies at Tupelo Country Club and with a group of friends who traveled all over the southeast playing different courses. His funny, dry sense of humor, and quiet kindness were appreciated by his friends and family alike.
Mickey was a devoted husband and a wonderful uncle. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sally Willis Elliott; sisters, Pat Camp (Tom), and Carolyn Murdock (Bill); sisters-in-law, Brenda Elliott and Josephine Willis Mark; niece, Janice Collins (Mike) (sons, Sean, and Ethan (Leigha)); nephews, Barry Mark (Ginger) (son, Bennett), and Ladd Mark (Robin) (daughter, Jessica); and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sue Elliott Hodges, and Shirley Jo Potter; brother, Charles Bentley Elliott; and brothers-in-law, Bobby Hodges, Edmund Potter, and Jess L. Mark.
