Texas " Michael W. Mansell, passed away, Monday, July 27, 2009, in Fort Worth, Texas at 57 years of age. He was a native of Tupelo, Mississippi and graduated from Shannon High School. He attended South West Baptist College in Boliver, MO as well as Missouri State. He was married to the former Susan Taylor of Saint Clair, Missouri for 21 years.

He served in the U.S. Air Force where he was in the medical core and began his career in security with on site missiles. As well as being a Vietnam veteran. He also trained in linguistics, being proficient in 5 languages. He then served in the U.S. Army in military intelligence where he was with the US Army Department of Defense and was stationed at the Pentagon Department of Intelligence as an Analyst/Advisor. Among his duties he served with the Central America Joint Intelligence with Operation Just Cause/Noriega; all members were hand selected for the Special Task Force. He also served in Saudi Arabia " Desert Storm. He was with the Special Forces group in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was also with the DEA for several years and was a member of the US Army Reserve.

Survivors include two sisters, Betty Heatherly of Jackson, Mississippi and Helen Padgett of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one niece, Megan Buhle and husband, David, of Booneville; a very special mention to Royal and Marjorie Taylor for their love and support of Mike over the many years; two special friends, Carol Ann Jones of Ridgeland, Mississippi and his life-long friend, David Goggans of Shannon, Mississippi and several other nieces and nephews

He is preceded in death by his parents Verdo and Hazel Mansell of Verona, Mississippi as well as his sister, Linda Mansell Briley of Tupelo, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be David Goggans, Roger Goggans, Ricky Mask, Michael Mask, Bill Vaughan and Donnie Nichols.

Gathering for the visitation will be on Tuesday evening the 4th of August from 6:00 " 9:00 p.m. at W. E. Pegues Funeral Home at 535 West Jefferson Street.

Services will be in the Jefferson Street Chapel at Pegues on Wednesday the 5th of August at 2:00 p.m. with burial at Verona City Cemetery with full military honors.
