Saltillo- Melinda Ann Bryant Lee, 65, died Sunday, June 18, 2023 at her home. She was born September 27, 1957 in Jackson to William Bryant and Bettie Johnston Bryant. She graduated from Jim Hill High School in 1975. She then graduated in 1979 from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s in Education, and her career flourished as she became a beloved elementary school teacher. She was patient, kind-hearted, and a dedicated mentor, she was always ready to offer encouragement and support. She had an unique ability to instill a love for learning in her students, fostering their curiosity and helping them grow into confident individuals. She possessed a genuine love for children, which shone brightly in her roles as a teacher, and, above all, as a Meme. She was also a member of King City Church.
Melinda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert Lee of Saltillo; her daughter, Jennifer Jones of Calhoun City; grandchildren, Alivia Jones, Gabby Moore and her husband, Conner, and Elizabeth Harrelson; siblings, Cassandra Braband and her husband, David, Cressie Odinak and her husband, Tom, Billy Bryant and his wife, Linda, and Kathleen Sloan and her husband, Jerry; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Pegues, Saltillo.
Services honoring Melinda’s life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues with Rev. Tim Green and Rev. Billy Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Gore, Terry Bentley, Wade Jones, James Crowe, James Harrelson, and Bobby McKissick.
Memorials may be made to the Early Childhood Education Center Parent Teacher Organization.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Rhinewalt for the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care provided to Melinda. The family would also like to express appreciation for care provided by Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County by the emergency room staff as well as staff on 2 main, and by the staff at Legacy Hospice.
