MELBA JEAN MCCOY Tupelo - Melba Jean McCoy, 77, died Sunday, November 16, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, she was born September 14, 1937 to E. L. and Cleo Lesley Sheffield. She grew up in Mantachie. She loved to fish, travel, exercise, especially walking, and spending time with her grandchildren. In high school she played basketball. She loved to grill and eat out. She attended Crosspoint Ministry. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Reggie Miller officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her caregiver of twenty-two years, Jimmy S. Shelton; one son, Terry Walton (Sylivia) of Mooreville; two daughters, Melissia Stafford (Bennie) of Cedar Bluff and Leslie Drumond of Tupelo; one sister Ruth Lemons; two brothers, Kelly Sheffield and Tom Sheffield; six, grandchildren, Katie Walton of Mooreville, Josh Walton of Mooreville, Jessica Bailey (Clay) of Tupelo, Zack Phillips (Renee Denham) of Tupelo, John-Rilee Drummond of Tupelo and Kevin Stafford of Philadelphia; one great-grandchild, Charlie Nobel of Mooreville. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Lee Walton. Pallbearers will be Phillip Goff, Lyle Bishop, Joey Edwards, Robert Stafford, Ricky Haupt, Chase Nichols and Jack Nichols. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
