MEDFORD "BILL" CARTER
Mantachie - Medford "Bill" Carter, 75, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. A Mississippi native, he was born October 2, 1930 to the late Luther and Blanche Oakes Carter. An employee of Aircap Industries, he retired after more than 20 years of service. He was an avid hunter and raised champion beagles.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Robert Carter and wife, Tracie, of Chantily, VA; one daughter, Barbara Mills of Phil Campbell, AL; one step-son, Ray Craighead of Van Etton, NY; 13 grandchildren, Gayle Whitesell of Williamsport, PA, Dan, Joe, and Chris Stewart of Mooreville, Dale and Don Stewart of Williamsport, PA, Kimberle and Kelsey Carter of Chantily, VA, Jerry, Christina, and William Carter of Illinois, Aaron and April Mills of Phil Campbell, AL; brothers, Roy and Wayne Carter of San Manuel, AZ, Merrill Carter of Florence, AL; one sister, Maxine Allen of Florence, AL; one niece, Patsy Cleveland of Golden.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Carter; a daughter Shirley Carter; two brothers, Vaudry and Ewell Carter; and one sister Eula Elliott.

Pallbearers will be Dan Stewart, Joe Stewart, Chris Stewart, Ralph Hawkins, Larry Patterson, Wade Wigginton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
