MAYNARD NEAL Tupelo - Maynard Neal, 87, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at his residence in the Auburn Community after an extended illness. A Birmingham, Alabama native, he was born June 30, 1926, to Robert Alva and Emma Tankersley Neal. He was a World War II veteran and a Dale Carnegie Course graduate. He was a member of the Tupelo Blue Lodge #318. He loved to create computer programs and work on family vehicles. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Private graveside services were held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors were in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Lydia Neal of the Auburn Community; three daughters, Sherelle Neal Funderburg (Fred) of Millington, Tennessee, Helen Neal Sappington (Glen) of Pontotoc and Forest Neal Sparks (Jerry) of Tupelo; one son, Maynard Carrson Neal (Lisa) of Plantersville; six grandchildren, Sherri Funderburg Petticrew (Richard) of Wrangell, Alaska, Lori Funderburg Walker (Aaron) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Cindy Sappington Phyfer (Paul) of Sacramento, California, William Brant Sappington (Brittany) of Booneville, Kellen Carrson Neal (Diane) of Southaven and Laura Neal Young (Andrew) of Monroe, Louisiana; six great-grandchildren, Spencer and Presley Petticrew, Liam and Asher Sappington and Wesley and Hamp Phyfer. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Damon, Henry, Gordon and Robert Neal, Jr.; two sisters, Bessie Kozlowski and one infant at birth.
