Maxine Caldwell Tallant

Tupelo Maxine Caldwell Tallant, 88, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a short illness. She was born September 18, 1922 to James Preston Caldwell and Dora Dye Caldwell in the Brewer Community. She was known by many names, Mother, Grandmama, Great Grandmama, Mac, Aunt Mac and Miss Maxine. She was also known as Mama to her beloved cat, Tippie, who has been her constant companion for the last 14 years. She was a life-long member of Brewer United Methodist Church even though she spent most of her life in Jackson, Saltillo and Tupelo.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in the Brewer United Methodist Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Tallant Aranda; two granddaughters, Michele Ostendorf (Mike) and Paige Flanary; two great grandsons, Tyler and Dylan Ostendorf; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Flanary all of Orlando, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rex M. Tallant; her parents; two sisters, Ruby Raines and Dale Ponder; one brother, Stanley Caldwell.

Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the funeral home.
