Maxine Dye

Tupelo - Maxine Dye, 87, died Friday, November 5, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born October 19, 1923 to Vern and Varah Foster Bishop. She began her 35 year career as a ward secretary at the North Mississippi Center and after a year was transferred to the business office where she worked in admission and discharge. She enjoyed cooking but the love of her life was her grandchildren. She was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield and Bro. David Perry officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Carnathan (James) of Mooreville; one son, David Dye (Donna) of Ellistown; three sisters, Dot Goforth of Tupelo, Grace Martin of Tupelo, Joyce Irwin (John Milton) of Birmingham, Alabama; three grandchildren, Cheryl Tate (Jack) of Mooreville, Courtney Carroll (Mitch) of Ellistown, Dave Dye (Melinda) of Guntown; four great-grandchildren, Anna Claire Tate, Watson Tate, Landon Carroll, and Tripp Dye.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Claude Dye in 1976; her parents; two sisters, Manell Brownlee and Alene Shettles; two brothers, Wayne Bishop and Lamar Bishop.

Pallbearers will be Donald Dye, Dave Dye, Jack Tate, Mitch Carroll, Jerry Bishop, Larry Treadaway, Ray Goforth and Butch Irwin.

Memorials may be to the Sanctuary Hospice House, 5159 W. Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38801.

Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the funeral home.
