MAVIS WATTS Tupelo - Mavis Watts, 93, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015, at the Meadows after an extended illness. She was born February 23, 1922 to W. E. and Cordie Reeder Clay. She was retired from North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a fantastic gardener and loved reading and crocheting in her spare time. She was a member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2015, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Tommy Inmon officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Merritt (Gary) of Tupelo, Shelia Estess (Charles) of Smithville, Tennessee and Rhonda Romito (Matt) of Opelika, Alabama; sister, Johnnie Ryan (Houston) of Humble, Texas; son-in-law, Roger Lanphere of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Mandy Golding (Steve) of Tupelo, Kelley Bland (Tommy) of Hoover, Alabama, Matt Lanphere and Cody Lanphere of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Shanna Gammons (Paul) of Tupelo and Adam Romito of Nashville, Tennessee; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 32 years, Roy Watts; two daughters, Pat Thompson and Peggy Lanphere; several brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Matt Lanphere, Cody Lanphere, Adam Romito, Tommy Bland, Paul Gammons and Lance Norman. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Grace Sunday school class. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice, 5159 W. Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38801.
