MAVIS HERNDON

Mantachie - MAVIS H. HERNDON, 85, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at her daughters residence after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born July 20, 1921 to the late Joseph Angie and Emma Parker Lindley. She worked at Milam Manufacturing and later as a sitter for the elderly. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Ronnie Goodwin and Joey Yanakapolus officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Bette Campbell and husband, David, of Tupelo, Sarah Pearce and husband, Robert, of Mantachie, Teresa Wright and husband, Donald, of New Albany; one son, Edd Herndon and wife, Carole, of Tupelo; four sisters, two brothers, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ollie Herndon, her parents, three grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice, 422A E. President St., Tupelo, MS 38801; or a charity of the donor's choice.
