Mauvalene Harris

Plantersville- Nora Mauvalene Harris, 93, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025. She was born on February 17, 1932, in Itawamba County, Mississippi, to Dirl and Lillion Franks Wimbs. On April 4, 1948, she married the love of her life, Carl B. Harris, and they shared many wonderful years together until his passing on December 26, 2021. While in good health, Mauvalene was a devoted and active member of First Baptist Church of Plantersville. She worked for numerous years as a skilled seamstress in garment manufacturing before spending 13 years serving customers at a popular local dairy bar. Later in life, she found joy in caring for children as a dedicated babysitter.

A loving wife and mother, Mauvalene’s warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She was gifted with her hands and took great pleasure in quilting and Swedish weaving, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her family. Her gentle spirit, devotion to her loved ones, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on those around her.

Mauvalene is survived by her three children, Carolyn Matthews of Plantersville, Terry Harris of Tupelo, and Joe Harris and his wife, Nannette, of Brewer; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Cecil Wimbs and his wife, Shirley of Athens, Georgia; and special friend, Karen Balint.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dirl and Lillion Wimbs; husband, Carl B. Harris; daughter, Vickie Lyle; granddaughter, Ashley Morgan; great-grandson, Colewyn Matthews; and three siblings, Ruble Wimbs, Bobby Wimbs, and Virginia Thompson.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Friday, March 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church Plantersville.

Services honoring her life will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church Plantersville with Bro. Danny Balint and Bro. Tim King officiating. Burial will follow at Plantersville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, and great-grandsons.

Her grandsons-in-law will be honorary pallbearers.
