Mattie Haddon

Birmingham Ridge - Mattie Lou Reed Haddon, 101, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at the Golden Living Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native and lifelong resident, she was born September 28, 1906 in the Auburn Community, to Jerry H. and Nannie Hill Reed. She was retired from Reed Mfg. where she worked as a supervisor. She enjoyed playing the organ, singing Gospel music, reading and the special time she spent with her family. She was a member of Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church.

Services will be 7 p.m. Saturday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Martin Jacks officiating. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, James Milton "Block" Haddon and wife, Christy, of Birmingham Ridge; one grandaughter, Jennifer Hurt and husband, Richard, of Saltillo; three great-grandchildren, Matison, Marley, and Mackenna Hurt; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Perry Haddon; one brother, Robert P. Reed; and four sisters, Momie Maxcy, Edith Gardner, Marie Markham, and Corrine Erwin.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
