Mattie Fay Dickey Carter



Tupelo - Mattie Fay Dickey Carter, 81, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Alcorn County, April 25, 1937, to Joe and Viola Dickey. She worked a number of years in the laundry at North Mississippi Medical Center.  She enjoyed reading and watching vintage movies. She was a cheerful person who always wore a smile and loved to worship. Mattie was a member of West Main Church of Christ, where she remained very faithful until her decline in health.



Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Carter; one son, Mark Carter; one granddaughter; her special friends and caregivers, Betty and Allen Welford, W.C. and Shirley Hill and Helen Williams; and all of her West Main Church of Christ family.



She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Aubrey Carter.



Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Minister Doug Greenway officiating. Graveside services will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.



Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time in the chapel.



Pallbearers will be Charles McGee, Steve Finn, Bob Llewellyn, Ken Kellum, Duke Loden, Gary Harris, Paul Harris and Rickey Byars.
