Mary Tucker

November 25, 1926 — June 23, 2008

Shannon - Mary A. Tucker, 81, died Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Broadway Healthcare Center in West Memphis, Arkansas after an extended illness. A Sulligent, Alabama native, she was born November 25, 1926 to the late Darris and Annabell Mcgee Reed. She worked at Reeds Manufacturing in Nettleton for 28 years. She was a cashier with Williams Grocery from 1986 until 1995 leaving due to a sudden onset of blindness. She was a long-time member of Old Union Baptist Church in Shannon. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and fishing.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Billy Langley officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Beard of Tupelo and Anita White Halk and her husband, Nick, of West Memphis, AR; one son, Edward Tucker and his wife, Patsy, of Shannon; one grandaughter, Jamie Lee Liebenow of West Memphis; four grandsons, Jamey Beard of Ohio, Kevin Beard of Tupelo, Eddie Wayne Vice of Vernon, Alabama and Tad Tucker of Tupelo; one brother, Henry Reed of Macon, Georgia; four nieces, Doris Barker and her husband, Cecil, of Fayette, Alabama, Pat Lofton of Macon, Brenda Williams and Debbie Tucker both of Amory; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward "Pete" Tucker on October 8, 1984.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and friends.

Visitation will be 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Center.
