MARY VANCE SPENCER
Tupelo - MARY VANCE SPENCER, 77, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend passed from this life Thursday, November 22, 2007, to be with her Savior. She was born June 22, 1930 in New Albany to the late O.G. and Ruth Howard. She grew up in Hickory Flat and graduated from Hickory Flat High School in 1949. She married Dwayne Spencer December 23, 1954 and lived in numerous locations during his military career. They moved to Tupelo in 1969. She was a faithful member of Gloster Street Church of Christ until her health failed.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Joe Connell and James Segars officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include her son, Barry Spencer and wife, Zen, of Tupelo; two nieces, Carla Martz of Memphis, Tenn, and Mary Blanch Winters of Columbus; one nephew, Joey Hicks of Byhalia; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, of 50 years, Dwayne Spencer, June 8, 2004; and her sisters, Blanch Rose and Troy Hicks.
Pallbearers will be Harold Russell, William F. Hale, William C. Spencer, Bill Spencer, Steven Spencer, and Wayne Washington.
