Mary Kathryn Sherfey

MARY KATHRYN GARDNER SHERFEY Shannon - Mary Kathryn Gardner Sherfey, 95, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at her residence. She was born February 3, 1917 in the Springhill Community of Saltillo to Exer and Maude Gardner. At an early age, the family moved to Shannon. After graduation from Shannon High School on May 7, 1935, she attended Draughon's Business College. She married Glen A. Sherfey, Sr. on January 4, 1948 and they moved to West Texas where she was a housewife and worked part-time for a Doctor's Answering Service and for a milk company doing product promotions. She and her family moved back to Mississippi in the early 1960's and she worked for Tombigbee Electric Power Association until her retirement on December 29, 1995 at the age of 78. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shannon where she sang in the choir and taught Children's Sunday School. She was also a member of Shannon Women's Club.
