MARY IMOGENE SHEDD HERNDON
Fulton - Mary Imogene Herndon, 95, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at her home. She was born May 11, 1922, to James Matthew and Minnie Minerva Pruitt Shedd. She was raised in the Fawn Grove Community and raised her children in the Vanburen Community. She was married to W. L. Herndon until his passing in 2003. She worked in garment manufacturing before working as a saleslady in a feed and seed store in Macon, Georgia. She owned a used furniture store, P. and M. Furniture, for many years in Verona and worked until she was 80 years old. Mary was an avid reader and even read E-books. She enjoyed gardening vegetables, raising chickens and wearing beautiful hats. She attended Dorsey Baptist Church until her health prevented her.
Survivors include her children, Rebecca Almeda Carter of Mooreville, Nelda Sue Carter (Paul, Sr.) of Summit, Pam Armstrong of Evergreen Community; Glen Edward Clouse (Patsy) of Dorsey and Danny E. Clouse (Faye) of Nettleton; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Sue Harris of the Auburn Community and Eunice Hill of Mobile, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W. L. Herndon; sisters, Beverly Bedford and Katherine Nanney; brothers, Verbon Shedd and Lester Shedd and son-in-law, Larry Armstrong.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Danny Rushing officiating. Graveside services will follow in New Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Heath McArthur, Jon Armstrong, Brent Carter, Bart Carter, Brenden Carter, Eric Clouse and Vince Clouse.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Carter, Sr., Mike Davis, P. J. Carter and Brayton Armstrong.
