MARY J. ROACH Tupelo- Mary Jeanette "MaMaw" Roach, 77, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at The Meadows Nursing Home in Fulton after a short illness. A native of Nashoba County, she was born Christmas Day in 1935 to Erbin Aaron Parker and Ada Almeta Druwry . Mary and her young family lived in Canton for 15 years where she worked for Eli Whitney Garment Manufacturing Plant and later a poultry/egg plant. After moving to Tupelo in 1969, she worked a number of years with Mid South Packers, had served as a nurse's aid with Tupelo manor Nursing Home and lastly worked as a "greeter" at Wal-Mart on Highway 6. She and her late husband Jesse L. Roach also served the Tupelo area in a great way as foster parents. Both Mary and Jesse loved blue grass music; they would often go camping during blue grass festivals. She was an accomplished quilt maker and loved working crossword and word find puzzles and caring for her flowers. She was a member of Pleasent Hill Baptist Church. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Wexford Parmer officiating. Burial will be at Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include one daughter, Goldie B. Dickey (Raulph) of Saltillo; one son, Jesse Lee "Butch" Roach Jr. (Renee) of Mongomery,Al; two sisters, Sarah Holmes (Sidney) of Morton, Joann Parker Seales of Phillidelphia two brothers, Erin Parker (Sylvia) of Barstow, CA., Doc Paker of Phillidelphia; ten grandchildern; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons and nine brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Ralph Dickey Jr., Parker Roach, Trey Roach, Michael Roach, Chris Parker, George Wilkson. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at the funeral home.
