MARY E. RAPER
Mount Vernon - Mary E. Raper, 89, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at the Graceland Care Center in New Albany after a long illness. She was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Lee County to Henry Farrar and Arrie Horton Farrar. She lived in the Mount Vernon community most of her life. She was a retired seamstress with Reed's Manufacturing with 40 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending sporting events her family was involved in, going to church, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Pollock officiating and the Rev. Bobby Robbins assisting. Burial will be in Union Cemetery northwest of Belden. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Scott and Joe of Belden; one son, Larry Raper and Dolores of Nettleton; five grandchildren, Lisa Rish and Mark, Jeff Scott and Melissa, and Traci Oosting and BertJan, all of Belden, and Jason Raper and Lacy, and Wesley Raper, all of Nettleton; seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Elage Raper; two sisters, Mable Clayton and Oleta Baggett; and a brother, Douglas Farrar.
The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to service time.
