Eggville Community—Mary Frances Loyd, 90 years old, of Eggville Community passed from this life on May 20, 2023, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born in Tupelo on April 3, 1933, to William Auther and Edith Evelyn Dickerson. She married the love of her life, Artis Luvan Loyd, Sr., on June 1, 1951. They were married 51 years.
She was a longtime resident of the Eggville Community. She was a member of Auburn Baptist Church for 77 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher, which she dearly loved, and as church secretary. She was a business owner of Merle Norman in Fulton for many years before she went on to the nursery to rock babies at North Mississippi Medical Center for a decade.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved the Lord dearly and traveling with friends and family.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Evelyn Witte and her husband, Ron, of Eggville; three granddaughters, Stacie Graham and her husband, Patrick, of Eggville, Tiffany Parker and her husband, Jason, of Eggville, and Jeanne Beth Creely and her husband, Matthew, of Tupelo; three great-grandsons, Andrew “A. J.” Parker, Turner Creely, and Garrett Creely; one brother, Joe Dickerson of Cornelius, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Artis Luvan Loyd, Jr. “Buddy”; six brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring her life will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues, Tupelo, with Rev. Jimmy Henry officiating. Graveside services will follow at Eggville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry Miller, Mac Gregory, Bert Gregory, Neil Gregory, Michael Dickerson, Steve Curbow, Billy Young, Ron Witte, and Matthew Creely. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Gregory, A. J. Parker, Turner Creely, and Garrett Creely.
