Mary Sue Knight

Saltillo - Mary Sue Bostic Knight, 103, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Home Place in Saltillo after a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Saltillo, she was born September 26, 1904 to the late John Erwin and Betty Holloway Bostic, living on the same hill on Mobile Street since the age of 5. In 1923, she graduated from Saltillo High School in the second graduating class. She worked as the cafeteria manager for Saltillo High School 22 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years and also a member of the Joy Club at Saltillo's First Baptist Church. Since 1976, she had been a member of the Saltillo Senior Citizens. She was an avid Mississippi State Fan and enjoyed playing rook and dominos. She was the widow of John Allen "Chunk" Knight. She was a lifetime member of Saltillo Presbyterian Church.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saltillo Prebyterian Church with Dr. Charles Holland and Rev. Dan Rupert officiating. Burial will be in Saltillo Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include three sons, Allen Bostic Knight and wife, Loyce Stacks Knight, of Shreveport, La., John Harold Knight and wife, Mary Scotte (Scottie) Wood Knight, of Starkville, and George McCullough Knight and wife, Nona Francis Knight, of Hurley; eight grandchilren, Susan Mire and husband, Bobby, of Knoxville, Tenn., Patsy Knight of Knoxville, Tenn, Gary Knight and wife, Kim, of Cincinatti, Oh., Sharon Brown and husband, Jim, of Jackson, Allen Knight and wife, Jennifer, Saltillo, Todd Knight and wife, Donna, of Vancleave, Phillip Knight and wife, LeaAnn of Wesson, Brian Knight and wife, Rebekah, of Vancleave, Jeff Howell and wife, Donna, of Shreveport, La., and Bobby Howell and wife, Sharon, of Shreveport, La.; 21 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Chunk Knight who died April ?, 1973, three brothers, William Erwin Bostic, Cecil Butler Bostic, and John Trilby Bostic; and one great-grandson, Beau Mire.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Mire, Gary Knight, Jim Brown, Allen Knight, Todd Knight, Phillip Knight, and Brian Knight.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
