Denton, Tex.--Mary Knox Kirksey, 91, died Friday, December 28, 2007 at the Vintage Retirement Community of Denton, Texas. She was born on October 8, 1916 1n Batesville to Roy and Margaret Knox. She married Elvin B. Kirksey in Tupelo and was a resident there for many years. She served as Executive Assistant to the Highway Commissioner of Northern District of Mississippi for twenty years and moved to Denton several years after her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tupelo. She was dearly loved by her family and many friends in both Tupelo and Denton.
A Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Louise Bland Chapel of First United Methodist Church of Tupelo with Rev. Andy Ray officiating. Graveside services will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Knox Stream and her husband, Richard of Denton, Texas; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Richardson and husband Rob of Dallas, Texas and Mary Soderstrom and husband, Charlie, of Houston, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Kyndall Richardson and Allyson and Rachel Soderstrom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin Kirksey.
