Phoenix, AZ --Mary E. Johnson, 93, died Friday, May 08, 2009, at the Beatitudes Care Center in Phoenix. She was born to Jack and Myrtle Reese on November 21, 1915. She attended Aberdeen schools and upon completion of high school in 1934, she moved to Tupelo, MS to attend Draughon's Business College. On November 22, 1939 she married William F. Johnson of Tupelo, who preceded her in death on December 1, 1990. Along with their only child Bill, they made their home in Tupelo. In October of 1954, they decided to spend the winter in Tucson, AZ. The rest of Mary's life was primarily spent in the Arizona towns of Tucson, Phoenix and Payson. She was a very active member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Tupelo for many years. Wherever she lived, she was very active in a Baptist church teaching Sunday School. She read the bible through many times.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Verona Cemetery with Rev. Steve Hurt officiating.
She is survived by her son Bill and daughter-in-law Judy of Pinetop, AZ, her grandchildren Will Johnson of Boca Raton, FL and Liana Bierman (Keith) and three great granddaughter's Sarah, Anna and Kate Bierman of Phoenix.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Buddy, Edward and Ollie.
There will be no public visitation.
