Mary Jo Carter Morgan

Mary Jo Carter Morgan, 80, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at her home. She was born June 15, 1942, the daughter of Greely and Marie Smothers Carter. She was employed in the retail business for many years. Mary Jo was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and attending estate sales. More than anything in life, she loved her family and the time they shared together.
Mary Jo leaves behind three children, Kevin Morgan and wife, Barbara, of Booneville, Greg Morgan and wife, Tinyko, of Tupelo, and Julia Spearman and husband, William, also of Tupelo; a brother, Robert Carter; a sister, Drewese Lindsey and husband, Ralph, of Baldwyn; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years who passed away August 25, 2020; and a brother, Wayne Carter.
The family will honor Mary Jo’s life with services at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Robert Moore and Bro. Josh Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Saturday at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Memorials may be made to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
