MARY ALICE GILLENTINE CHRISTIAN

Tupelo - Mary Alice Gillentine Christian, 91, went to be with her Lord Friday, September 27, 2013, at Magnolia Manor. The youngest child of eleven, Mary Alice was born in Lee County on July 25, 1922, to George Washington and Lelila Rebecca Payne Gillentine. After being raised during the depression, she developed a ?don?t waste? philosophy that would continue throughout her life. A first for her family, she graduated from Mooreville High School. She lived in Eutaw, Alabama, for many years and lived in Tupelo since 1975. She worked many years at the North Mississippi Medical Center on the pediatric floor. Due to her hard work and example, she raised three sons, who are two certified public accountants and a pharmacist. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren who thought she never raised her voice. She loved roses, gardening and never let a pine cone stay in her yard. She was a member of Priceville Baptist Church and also for a time had attended Auburn Baptist Church.

A celebration of her life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tim McMillan officiating and a eulogy by her granddaughter, Cynthia Sprich. A graveside will follow at Gilvo Cemetery.

She is survived by her three sons, Bill Morgan (Belinda) of Tupelo, John Poole (Diane) of Trussville, Alabama and George Poole (Rebecca) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; six grandchildren, Bryan Poole (Katie), Cynthia Sprich (David), Dana Morgan Booth (Isiah), Mary Grace Edmonds (Kyle), Betsey Poole and Andy Poole; six great-grandchildren, Jack Poole, Frank Poole, Jordan Sprich, Madison Sprich, Laine Edmonds and Pierce Edmonds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John Morgan, Jack Poole and Dexter Christian; five brothers and five sisters; her grandson, John Vernon Morgan.

The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013, at the funeral home.
