Mary Gattis Finney

Belden- Mary Alice Gattis Finney, 87, entered her eternal home Wednesday, January 18, 2023. She was born in Lee County on January 24, 1935, to Sydney Freeman Gattis and Sarah Isabelle Whitaker. On March 21, 1953, she married Ezra Lee Finney, they would be celebrating their 70th anniversary this March. Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great pride in taking care of the home and family and her life revolved around supporting them. She enjoyed being outdoors and tending to her flowers. She is a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Mary is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ezra Finney of Belden; three children, Vickie Finney Pannell of Tupelo, Kevin Finney and his wife, Lisa, of Tupelo, and Greg Finney and his wife, Sissy of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Ginger Pannell Sims and her husband, Brian, of Saltillo, Allison Pannell Wilson and her husband, Corey, of Pontotoc, Bronson Finney and his wife, Kristin, of Fulton, Carmen Smith and her husband, Jeff, of Tupelo, Haley Maynard of Denver, Colorado, Greg Finney of Saltillo, Mert Finney of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Blake Parmer of Tupelo; eight great-grandchildren, Knox Sims, Connor Wilson, Zack Wilson, Kallie Smith, Charli Beth Smith, Cole Finney, Jordan Finney, and Ava Finney; and a host of great-great grandchildren; two siblings, Lawrence Ford Gattis and his wife, Freda, of Arkansas, and Barbara Ann Stanford and her husband, Dalton, of Tupelo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman and Sarah Gattis; daughter, Bobbie Sue Finney; great-great-granddaughter, Saylor Finney; seven sisters, Annie Mae Rogers, Linnie Bell Hutcheson, Lela Ray Gattis, Maggie Mansell, Hazel Norris, Kathaline Horton, and Ellar Faye Turner; and six brothers, Robert Alonzo Gattis, William Henry Gattis, Sidney Earl Gattis, James Lee Gattis, Melvin Cortez Gattis, and Carl Freeman Gattis.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Pegues, Tupelo.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery, Shannon.

Pallbearers will be Connor Wilson, Bronson Finney, Greg Finney, Blake Parmer, Roger Stanford, and Dewayne Stanford.
