Mooreville - Mary L. Gale, 59, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Pontotoc County native, she was born December 22, 1950, to Lonnie Tallant and Betty Denton Tallant Wilhite. She was raised in Ecru, but lived most of her life in Mooreville. She worked as a supervisor in the furniture industry and later drove a truck for Destiny Carriers. She enjoyed country and western dancing and won numerous trophies with her husband in competitions. She loved going to Tunica with her family. She was married to Preston "P-nut" Gale who died Feb. 14, 2005. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended Koinonia Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Koinonia Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Faulkenbery officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Angie Wood (Shawn) of Mooreville; three sons, Nickey Gant (Becky), Chris Gant (Carla), and Neal Gant (Marie) all of Mooreville; her mother, Betty Tallant Wilhite (J.W.) of Pontotoc; three sisters, Patsy Mills (Robby) of Mantachie, Brenda Roberson (Steve) of Ecru, and Sandra Gale of Ecru; one brother, Larry Tallant (Judy) of Ecru; 12 Grandchildren, Allen Ellis (Misty), Timothy Ellis (Jessica), Michael Wood, Michael Gant, Coley Gant (Summer), Michael Dale, Lauren Gant, Tiffany Gant, Lane Gant, Santana Gant, Kimberly Gant, and Dakota Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Dalton, Ashton, Cayden, and Tristan; a sister-in-law, Montez Wise (Phil) of Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, P-nut Gale; the father of her children, Nick Gant who died June 17, 2005; her son, Michael Shane Gant.
Pallbearers will be Allen Ellis, Timothy Ellis, Michael Wood, Lynn Stults, Coley Gant, and Blake Gant.
Visitation will continue Saturday 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
