MARY FREEMAN Saltillo - Mary Freeman, 74, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. A long time resident of Saltillo, she was born June 5, 1939, to George Lester and Gertie Brock Palmer in Tupelo. She had a love for children and for over twenty-five years she owned and operated Miss Mary's (Me Me's) Day Care in Saltillo. She was very passionate about animals and was a huge supporter of the Tupelo Lee Humane Society. She cherished her family and was particularly fond of her very special granddaughter whom she loved spending time with. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. A celebration of life will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. She leaves behind her husband of fifty-three years, W. L. "Smokey" Freeman of Saltillo; one daughter, Angela Crafton (Terry) of Saltillo; one son, Eric Freeman (Marie) of Mantachie; one very special granddaughter, Lexie Crafton of Saltillo; one sister, Ann Palmer of Saltillo and one brother, John Palmer of Saltillo. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gatlin Palmer. Pallbearers will be Johnny Green, Mike Irwin, Jimmy White, Wes Westmoreland, Ronnie Dunaway and Tommy Jo "Dodlar" Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adeline Jones Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Tupelo Lee Humane Society, 2400 S Gloster St, Tupelo MS 38801.
