MARY RUTH ESTES
Eggville Community - Mary Ruth Estes, 97, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017, at her home. She was born March 10, 1920, the third of five children, to Elmer Lindsey and Laura Maudie Keith Brooks on the farm in Shiloh Community. Mary Ruth married Holder C. Estes on August 23, 1936. After serving in WWII, Holder became a brick mason and contractor and Mary Ruth was a homemaker, raising three boys and a daughter. She also worked in the Mooreville High School Cafeteria for many years. She baby sat for a lot of children in her later years. Mary Ruth had been a resident of the Eggville Community for over 70 years and was a member of Eggville Church of Christ. At the age of 97, she outlived her siblings and many friends that she developed over the years.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Spearman (Jimmy) of the Eggville Community; sons, Cecil Estes (Bonnie) of Ocean City, Maryland, Charles Estes (Linda) of Cocoa, Florida and Jimmy Estes (Kaye) of Mooreville; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom is gone from this life, but not forgotten. Her memory will live on in the hearts of many. Her greatest joy was making others happy; may God help her soul rest in peace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years, Holder C. Estes; two infant sons; daughter-in-law, Sarah Estes; siblings, Chester A. Brooks, Birdie Lavene Lucas, Lorene Stanford and Edward "Ed" Brooks.
Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Leon Willis officiating. Graveside services will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jim Spearman, Daniel Puckett, James McCasland, Brandon Estes, Justin Estes and Eddie Estes.
