MARY NELL DILLARD

Saltillo - Mary Nell Clement Dillard, 73, died Monday, November 9, 2009, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks in Verona after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born November 26, 1935 to Jess and Lizzie Easterling Clement. She was raised in the Birmingham Ridge Community and had lived most of her life in the Saltillo area. She played on an outstanding Saltillo High School basketball team. Earlier in her life she attended Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church and was a devout Christian with high ethics and morals that did not waiver throughout her life. She truly loved life, her friends, and family, and especially her grandchildren. Prior to declining heath, she worked as a medical assistant at Saltillo Medical Clinic. She attended Covenant Life Presbyterian Church and First Baptist Church, Saltillo and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a self taught master seamstress, and enjoyed gardening in her yard.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Charles Covington officiating. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Noel (John) of Saltillo; two sons, Terry Dillard (Kathy) of Huntsville, Ala., and Mike Dillard (Sherry) of Saltillo; one sister, Betty McNutt of Tupelo; two brothers, James E. "Bud" Clement (Faye) of Tupelo and Fred Clement (Janice) of Booneville; five grandchildren, Carley Noel of Saltillo, Mac Dillard of Huntsville, Samantha Parker (Thomas) of Huntsville, Jessica Miller of Saltillo, Jordan Dillard of Saltillo; one great-grandson, Nash Parker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Paul Poland, Michael Poland, Jonathan Poland, Miles Clement, Mike Webb, and Robin Robison.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Saltillo Funeral Home.
