Auburn - Mary Ruth Carnathan, 91, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Golden Living Center after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of theAuburn Community, she was born October 15, 1917, to Archie and Lucille Garner Carnathan. She was a homemaker and enjoyed attending church and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed participating in the Auburn Baptist Church Senior Citizens' program with her lifelong friends. She was a longtime faithful member of Crossroads Christian Church.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Devin Dutka and Bro. Tom Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery.
Survivors include her sister, Lottie Fay Carnathan Gillentine (Crafton) of Auburn; two nieces, Janice Carnathan Tindoll (Avalon) of Auburn and Deborah Gillentine Duff (John) of Laurel; four nephews, Howard Carnathan of Auburn, Michael Gillentine (Marsha) of Baldwyn, Eddie Carnathan (Patricia) of Tupelo, and Carey Carnathan (Kim) of Auburn; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Joe L. Carnathan and James Russell Carnathan (Elsie); one nephew, Timothy Gillentine.
Pallbearers will be Billy Garrett, Michael Gillentine, Eddie Carnathan, Nik Carnathan, Carey Carnathan, and Adam Carnathan.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
