Amory - MARVILYNE WORTHY, 84, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at Gilmore Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. A Nettleton native, she was born July 9, 1923 to the late John and Icer Elizabeth Sullivan Brookman. She worked many years for Glenn Manufacturing. She will be remembered as an excellent markswoman with a 22 pistol. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and watching soap operas and basketball. She was a member of Carolina Baptist Church.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Billy McBunch and Bro. Phil Benton officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy Coplin and husband, Rev. Harvey Coplin of Aberdeen, Frankie Hefner and husband, William, of Mooreville, Peggy Bivens and husband, William, of Okolona; two sons, Jimmy Eugene Worthy and wife, Theresa, of Winona, and Jimmy Murrill Worthy of Nettleton; one sister, Geneva Culver of Corinth; one brother, J.D. Brookman and wife, Peggy, of Nettleton; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband 51 years, Lemance Worthy; one son, Lee Junior Worthy; three sisters and one brother; and one great-grandchild, Abigail Buse.
Pallbearers will be Lee Coplin, Tim Coplin, Billy Renfro, Tony Buse, Buddy House, and Roger Renfro.
