Martin Garner

Sherman - Frank Martin Garner, 58, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of north Mississippi, he was born May 23, 1950, to John Frank and Edna Starkey Garner. He graduated from Overton High School in Memphis then attended The University of Memphis. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as an associate for Wal-mart the past five years and had also worked 15 years in Memphis for Thomas and Betts. He enjoyed nature, spending time outdoors planting things and watching them grow. He loved his family and was loved by all who knew him, especially his Wal-Mart family. He attended Tri-County Baptist Church.

Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Larry Taylor and Rev. Billy Foster officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Belden.

Survivors include his wife of 2 1/2 years, Janice Garner of Sherman; two daughters, Jackie Wages (Mickey) of Saltillo and Lana Nobles (Gerald) of Sherman; his father, Frank Garner of Tupelo; two brothers, John Garner (Martha) of Memphis, Tenn. and Howard Garner of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Chandler and Jared Coleman, of Sherman and Tanner Brown and Kaytlon Wages of Saltillo.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Garner.

Pallbearers will be Chandler Coleman, Jared Coleman, Tanner Brown, David Gullick, William Garner and Andrew Garner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the associates of Wal-mart on Gloster Street.

Visitation will continue Friday until service time at the funeral home.
