MARTHA MILLER Brewer - Martha Young Miller, 71, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born June 12, 1942, in Verona to Samuel Thomas and Betty Flora Pettigrew Young. She graduated from Shannon High School in 1962. She had been a long-time member of Brewer Baptist Church and was a current member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Pontotoc. She enjoyed her plants and gardening. She cherished her friends and the countless hours spent talking to them. She adored her grandchildren and reserved a special place for them in her heart. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Marty Browning officiating. The eulogy will be given by family member Sheriff Jim Johnson with scripture by her only grandson, Logan Parker. A graveside will follow at Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include her three children, Myra Collins (Bill) of Ecru, Lee Miller (Beth) of Tupelo and Melinda Parker (Ben) of Guntown; six grandchildren, Kayla and Kari Collins, Caroline Miller, Logan, Emilee and Madelyn Parker; two sisters, her identical twin, Mary Goff (Bobby) of Shannon and Patsy Bass (Lowery) of Tupelo; her brother, Joe Young of Plantersville; special friend, Sharon Minga of Brewer; many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Flora Pettigrew Young and her sister, Sammie Burleson. Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Young, Jeff Goff, Ken McVay, Johnny Burleson, Scott Martin, Larry Bass and Guy Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Mingo, Keith Wiseman, Mike Easley, Eddie McPherson, Joe Dye and Tommy Lindsey. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Susan B. Komen, We're Gonna Love Mom Through It Race Team, PO Box 851, Tupelo, MS 38802.
