Belden - Martha Ann Logan, 71, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at her residence. A Tupelo native, she was born March 3, 1939 to Burnell H. and Lurlyne Creeley Wade. She was a graduate of Tupelo High School, class of 1957. After attending Mississippi College for Women for several years, she moved to Northern Virginia to take a position on the staff of First District Congressman Thomas Abernathy in Washington, D. C. Later in her 26 years on Capital Hill she worked as a staff assistant to Senator James O. Eastland and then in the same capacity for Senator John Stennis.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Tom Logan, of Belden; one sister, Dorothy Lamar (William); one step-daughter, Margaret Gartin (Ken) of San Diego, California; three nieces, Kelly Phillips (Andy) of Amory, Carrie Ruth (Dennis) of Fulton and Kathy Mills (Billy) of Tupelo; one nephew, Clay Lamar of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her only child, William Byrd, her parents; one brother, Burnell "Son" Wade; one sister, Virginia O'Callahan.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Ruth, Clay Lamar, Andy Phillips, William Lamar, Billy Mills and Ron Solomon.
Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at the funeral home.
