Martha Ann Thompson

Martha Ann Stone Thompson died on January 29, 2025, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehab after an extended illness. She was born on January 29, 1936, in Tupelo to the late Woodrow and Mae Segars Stone. Her grandparents were the late Dr. and Mrs. G. C. Stone and the late Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Segars. After graduating from Tupelo High School, she attended the University of Mississippi where she became a lifetime member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. After receiving her B.S. Degree in elementary education from Blue Mountain College, she taught 28 years in the Lee County Schools. She was a longtime member of Tupelo First Baptist. 

Survivors include her cousins: James Segars, Doug Segars, David Segars, Mike Segars, Sandra Hunt, Suzette Potts, Kevin Stone, and Max Stone. Her caregiver was Suzette Segars Potts. 

 Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 2 the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Ricky Young officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at Pegues, Tupelo. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be David Segars, Mike Segars, Roger Dale Potts, Adam Potts, Christopher Potts, and Seth Thomas.
