MARLENE CHUNN

TUPELO -- Surrounded by her family and closest friends, Marlene Warner Chunn, 75, peacefully went home to her Heavenly Father on May 1, 2013, following an extended illness.
A true woman of godly grace, Marlene is remembered for her kind, loving spirit and the Christian legacy she left behind for her children, grandchildren and all who knew her.

Marlene was born to Etta Peterson Miller on Nov. 25, 1937, in San Francisco, Calif. She spent her childhood and young adult life in Ogden, Utah, before marrying a North Mississippi man and eventually settling in Tupelo.
An alumna of the University of Mississippi, Marlene taught at Shannon Elementary School for 26 years. Throughout her teaching career, she had the opportunity to touch many young lives and encourage children to make the right choices.

She and her late husband, Randall Chunn, were active members of West Jackson Street Baptist Church in Tupelo, where Marlene served as a ladies? Sunday school teacher and women?s ministry leader. She led many women to the Lord and mentored them in their Christian walk.
In the weeks before her passing, Marlene mentioned several times to her family that she was ready to meet her Lord. Though her family weeps over her departure, they are at peace with the knowledge that her soul is in the hands of her Savior, and she is finally home.

Marlene is survived by her children Steven Chunn (Yonea) of Blue Springs; Karen Thomas (Gregg) of New Albany; and Ronald Chunn (Nora) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Matthew Chunn; Camp Le Jeune, N.C.; Mary, Michael, Margaret, Martha , Mark, Macain , Molly and Mitchell Chunn, all of Blue Springs; Connor Chunn of Houston, Texas; Kayla Doster (Cody) of Columbus; Beth and Jonathan Thomas of New Albany; and one great-grandchild, Caleb Doster, of Columbus.

Marlene is preceded in death by her loving husband, Randall Chunn, and her mother, Etta Peterson Miller.
