Tupelo " Rev. Mark Alan Morgan, Sr., 55, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 20, 2009, at his residence after a brief illness. A native of Onega, Kansas, he was born November 8, 1953 to Judson Taylor and Mertie Delores Neill Morgan. He served as a bi-vocational minster since 1979, pastoring churches in Arkansas and Mississippi. He also worked as a grocery store manager, painting contractor, and recently began selling insurance. He was currently the pastor of Webb Baptist Church in Webb, Miss. where he had served the past 17 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and served as past Master for Drew Lodge 459. He was past president of the Drew Chamber of Commerce and the Drew Rotary Club. An avid history buff, particularly of the Civil War, he also enjoyed the study of geneology and sword and antique collecting. He loved the Lord and his greatest passion was serving God through serving the brothers and sisters of his church as well his own family.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Webb Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Sumner, Dr. Lowell Ingram and Rev. Truman Scarbrough officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Debbie Fields Morgan of Drew; five children, Lora Gipson (Michael) of Saltillo, Mark Morgan, Jr (Joanie) of Saltillo, Shannon Morgan of Oxford, Erin Morgan of Hattiesburg, and John Morgan of Cleveland; his sister, Judith Bledsoe (Francis) of Strong, Ark.; his brother, Bruce Morgan of Little Rock, Ark.; his grandson, Noah Daniel Gipson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Judson T. Morgan, II.
Pallbearers will be Gary Shepherd, Ronnie Tackett, Ron Parr, Less Hopson, Troy Smith, and Don Word
Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of Webb Baptist Church and members of the Drew Masonic Lodge 459.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m Saturday at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland. The body will lie in state 12:30 p.m. until service time at Webb Baptist Church.
