Pontotoc- Mark N. Freeman, 62, passed to his eternal home Monday, November 14, 2016, in hospice care at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, Mark was born May 1, 1954, to Gene and Mary Sue Houston Freeman.  He was a 1972 graduate of Tupelo High School. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and Mississippi State University. He was a salesman for FMC in Tupelo. He later began a 28 year teaching career as a drafting and design instructor at Northeast Mississippi Community College, Tupelo High School and Pontotoc Ridge Career and Vocational Center, and recently retired in 2015.  He was an amazingly talented woodworker, founding Pelar’s Pottery. A true craftsman, he used his woodworking to minister to others in grief. Mark enjoyed fishing and playing industrial league softball. He was a lifelong member of Parkway Baptist Church.

He is survived by his mother,  Mary Sue Freeman of Tupelo; three sisters, Lisa Guy (Carey) of Tupelo, Gena Yarbrough (Buck) of Saltillo, Lynn Richardson (Terry) of Boliver, Tennessee; nephews, Will Freeman (Georganna) and Houston Yarbrough; nieces, Michelle Shepherd (Daniel), Lauren Guy and fiancé Michael Melton, Chelsea Wildmon (Wesley), Sadie Richardson, Ella Richardson, Brooke Marlar (Brad), Blake Daniel; great nieces and nephews, Abbi Glen Freeman, Maggie Shepherd, John Deacon Shepherd and Bennett Wildmon.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gene Freeman; his brother Glen "Pelar" Freeman; and a sister in law, Gay Freeman.

Visitation will be Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. Memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo with Rev. Drew Richardson officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Marion, Roger Dillard, Mark Rutledge, Lee Wayne Neely, Kurt Radojsics and Chip Peterson.
