MARION MCCASKILL


Tupelo- Marion Miller McCaskill, 81, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at the North Miss. Medical Center after a brief illness. A Huntsville native, she was born Sept. 1, 1924, to the late Ed Payne and Mildred Frye Chapman Miller. A 1945 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in education, she taught ninth grade algebra in Corinth and Blytheville, Ark., and also at Milam and Carver Schools in Tupelo, until her retirement from teaching in 1980. She later became the administrative assistant for the Shepherd's Center since its inception. She was currently serving as president of the PEO in Tupelo and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a former member of the Pilot Club. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder on the Session.


Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ann Houston Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.


Survivors include her daughter, Millie Chastain and husband, Joe, of Talladega, Ala.; and two sisters, Mildred Harper and Peggy Countess, both of Decatur, Ala.


She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 32 years, Dan McCaskill, who passed away March 3, 1980.


Pallbearers will be her nephews, Allyn Crane, Stuart Countess, Steven Harper, Scott Walsh, Buddy Stubbs, Jim Benson, Bill Caroll and Ron Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Session of the First Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the church.
