MARIE ESTES JONES
Casey Creek- Marie Estes Jones, 90, died Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. She was born April 16, 1916 in Mooreville to the late Mannie and Selma Shumpert Estes. She was a long time resident of Okolona where she was employed by Futorian Furniture Co. After retirement, she and her husband, H.A. Jones, moved to the Casey Creek Community in Prentiss County. He preceded her in death February 26, 2000. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her yard. She loved quilting and had made hundreds of quilts for friends and family. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2006 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Fred Showers officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include five children, Ralph Allen Jones of Okolona, Mary Bea Johnson, and husband, Jack of Saltillo, Newell E. (Butch) Jones and wife, Gayle, of Tupelo, Michael Aaron (Mike) Jones of Okolona and Frances Elizabeth (Libby) Williams and husband, Wayne, of Athens, Ala.; four sisters, Ollie Mae Ruth of Tupelo, Ellen Stroup and Foy Basden, both of Mooreville, and Lucille Allen of Starkville; three brothers, Earnest Estes of Belden, Mannie Estes of Crockett Tex., and John Thomas Estes of Mooreville; 11 grandchildren, Angela Walker, Steve Johnson, Susan Weiand, Charles David Jones, Monica G. Simmons, Michael A. Jones, Jr., Candy L. Davis, Cathy Macharrey, Javonna Williams, Amie Tucker and Beth Haney; numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Estes and a grandson, Gregory Jones.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 2 p.m until service time Monday at the Saltillo funeral home.
