MARIE HARVILLE Pontotoc - Marie Benefield Harville, 75, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Alabama on April 6, 1938, to Richard and Lillie Mae Gentry Benefield. She was reared in the Goodwater Community area in Alabama and was a 1956 graduate of Goodwater High School. She met her future husband, Bro. Charles E. Harville, at Clarke College in Newton, Mississippi, and together they ministered in several Baptist Churches for many years. She and her family located to the Longview/Bankhead area in Pontotoc County in 1966. She worked in several area garment manufacturing companies, and later in life, she was a nurse's aid working nearly twenty years with the Pontotoc Nursing Home. She enjoyed reading, working crossword and word puzzles. A Lady of faith, she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir for many years. She was an active and faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pontotoc. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Melvin Crawley and Rev. Tommy Tackett officiating. Burial will be in the White Zion Cemetery on the Pontotoc County Line. Survivors include four children, Allan Harville (Bonnie) of the Dorsey Community, Trish Watson (Richard) of the Alpine Community, Mike Harville (Beverly) of Pontotoc and Becky Haley (Lynn) of Pontotoc; eight grandchildren, Lee, Hannah and Rachel Watson, Shawn (Keshia) and Candies Harville, Tara, Laken and Cameron Haley; two step-grandchilden, Tina Smith (Shaun) and Eric Aldridge; three great-granddaughters, Madison Waters, Micayla and Jayden Harville; two brothers, Frank Benefield (Jackie) of Childersburg, Alabama and Charles Benefield (Pat) of Sylacauga, Alabama; four sisters, Mary Johns of Sylacauga, Alabama, Hazel Frost of Alpine, Alabama; Naomi Smith (Carroll) of Rockford, Alabama and Ruby Ford of Phenix City, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bro. Charles E. Harville on May 20, 2000; three brothers, M.D., Hubert and Aubrey Benefield. Pallbearers will be Danny, Randy and Ricky Harville, Don and Scott Witcher, Jeremy Staggs, William Anderson, Freddie Ray Russell and Richard Warren. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the funeral home.
