Shannon - Marie H. Burleson, 75, died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Union County native, she was born August 12, 1934 to James Malcom and Jeanette Killough Hudnall. She lived most of her life in the Old Union Community. She was the widow of Thomas Burleson whom she married in 1953. She was employed with the North Mississippi Medical Center for 15 years. She was a long-time and devoted member of Old Union Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed going to the Verona Senior Center when able, collecting cook books and had a dear love for cats. She also enjoyed camping with her husband and grandson in her younger years. She always enjoyed spending time with her family.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Old Union Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Langley and Bro. Danny Horton officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her two daughters, Brenda Collier (Craig) and Sheila Douglas (Larry) both of Shannon; one grandson, Dustin Parker of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Ames of LaGrange, Indiana and Cassie Ann Gillentine of Tupelo; special friends, The Hutcheson Family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Burleson, April 21, 1999 and her parents.
Pallbearers will be Paul Sisk, Dick Williams, Stan Hutcheson, Mike Hutcheson, Al Gillentine, David Hendrix, Tim Sudduth and Clyde Godfrey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Members of Old Union Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2010, at the funeral home.
