MARIAN "MOM BILL BRATTON

Tupelo - Marian Winifred Barrett Bratton, 86, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. A Russellville, Alabama native, she was born September 7, 1919, to the late John Nelson and Mattie Mae Braly Barrett. For all her married life she lived in Tupelo and she was the widow of A. E. Bratton who preceded her in death, July 10, 1995. She was retired owner of Mom Petite Child Nursery. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was known as "Bill to her siblings and "Mom Bill to her grandchildren and the countless children she nurtured during the 30 years she operated Mom Petite Child Nursery. She was a member Wesley United Methodist Church.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Ray Mooney officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include one daughter, Bunny Darnell and her husband, Malcolm, of Meridian; three sons, Al Bratton, Barry Bratton and his wife, Lynne, and Butch Bratton and his wife, Carolyn, all of Tupelo; one sister, Jeanne Hargett of Russellville, and Warren Hargett of Titusville, Florida; twelve grandchildren, Angel Mercer of Enterprise, Tad Campbell, Meridian, Courtney Hatcher of Marion, Bobby Bratton of Tupelo, Carrie Bratton of Tupelo, Ben Bratton of Tupelo, Kim Jackson of State College, Pennsylvania, Allen Darnell Ft. Worth, Texas, Michael Ethridge of Shannon, Scotty Ethridge of Memphis, Bill Ethridge of Shannon, and Kelly Robinson of Memphis; 13 great grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, a sister, Irby Barrett, and a brother, J. N. Barrett, Jr, preceded her in death.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Bratton, Tad Campbell, Andy Hatcher, Chris Hargett, Jeff Hargett, and Brian Hargett.

Ben Bratton will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, in honor of Ben Bratton, her grandson.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
