MARGARET L. STANFORD
Tupelo - Margaret Allyne Lackey Stanford died Monday, June 2, 2008, after a sudden illness. A Lee County native, she was born February 6, 1934 to the late Turner and Edna Dearman Lackey. She was a graduate of Belden High School. She was one of the first female real estate agents in the area and worked for many years with Wilemon, Robertson and TRI Real Estate Agencies. She was a member of Belden Baptist Church and the Sunshine Sunday School Class. She enjoyed playing golf and traveling, which she did extensively throughout her life.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Owen Riddick officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include five cousins, Marie Dickerson and Doris Hudspeth both of Belden, Josephine Kelly and her husband J. C. of Plantersville, Virginia Burleson of Palmetto and Birdie Sloan of Pontotoc; a brother-in-law Hank Stanford and his wife, Jerri, of Tupelo; a sister-in-law, Faye Mercer; special friends, Steve and Beverly Blaylock and was known as Grandmother to their children, Cherish, Steven, Rye and little Jamison; and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Stanford..
Pallbearers will be J. C. Kelly, Bob Ellison, Steve Blaylock, Steven Blaylock, Rye Blaylock and Buddy Clayton and honorary Pallbearers will be the Sunshine Sunday School Class of Belden Baptist Church..
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time. Friday, June 6, 2008 at the funeral home.
