Saltillo- Margaret Susan Montgomery, 64, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, November 26, 2018. She was born June 9, 1954 to John Ed Montgomery and Martha Jewell Andrews Montgomery in West Point. In 1972, she graduated from Saltillo High School. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, fishing or camping, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making her children their favorite meal and cake on their birthdays. She also was an excellent seamstress making costumes for her children and crocheting blankets for her grandchildren. Margaret Susan was a devout Christian and a member of Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church. She was eligible to be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was pursuing a membership to make her lineage official.
Survivors include three children, Michael Downing and his wife, Aprylle of Saltillo, Ivy Downing of Saltillo and Lisa Downing Roberts and her husband, Casey of Belden; eight grandchildren, John Downing, Adrianna Guin, Storm Downing, Savanna Guin, Layla Stevens, Annabelle Downing, Sarah Downing and Leland Cox; one sister, Darlene Morison and her husband, Joel of Greensboro, North Carolina and two brothers, John Lyman Montgomery and his wife, Debbie of Saltillo and Edward Montgomery and his wife, Pam of Saltillo.
Preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Montgomery.
Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday November 28, 2018 at W. E. Pegues, Saltillo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday November 29, 2018 at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bobby Holland officiating. Graveside services will follow in McNeil Cemetery.
