MARGARET DALE COKER
Shannon - Margaret Dale Coker, 70, died suddenly Monday, June 3, 2013, at her residence. A Shannon native, she was born July 26, 1942, to James Norman and Hattie Rodgers McMurry. She was a life long resident of Shannon. She enjoyed fishing, watching soap operas, going out to eat, getting her hair done and playing with her dogs and cats. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Doty Chapel Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Terry Paul Graham officiating. Burial will be in Doty Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Melvin Coker of Shannon; two daughters, Gay Pearson (David) and Kay Presley (Gary Reed) both of Shannon; one son, Kevin Coker (Alisha) of Shannon; one step-son, James Coker of Tupelo; twelve grandchildren, Matthew, Cody, Casey, Kindal, Brittney, Whitney, Trey, Michael, Michele, Melody, Monica and Mark; sixteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Tee McMurry and Earline Goggins both of Shannon and Helen Hall of Pontotoc; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one step-son, Eddie Coker (Kay); three brothers, Buck, John "Hamm" and O?Neal "Turkey" McMurry; one sister, Christine Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Joey Elliott, Trey Dent, G.W. Dye, Richard Presley, Billy Wayne Denham and Dan Garrett
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Cody and Matthew Pearson, Trey Weaver and Michael and Mark Coker.
Visitation will be 4 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the funeral home.
